The Calcina, according to tradition, got its name from the fact that it was the seat of the warehouses of Calcinera (sellers of lime). Under the Bridge Calcina, built in 1840, passing boats laden with lime and stone. As the most prestigious in Venice, this was a place frequented by artists, writers and researchers.
